CSM Selects Aptilo Networks to Enable the First WiMAXTM Deployments Throughout Indonesia

SINGAPORE--(Marketwire - April 8, 2008) - WiMAX FORUM CONGRESS ASIA - Aptilo Networks (www.aptilo.com), the global leader in integrated solutions for Service Management and Access Control for wireless networks including WiMAX™, wireless mesh and Wi-Fi hotspots, announces today that CSM, a domestic and international broadband data/multimedia satellite and terrestrial network service provider in Indonesia, has chosen Aptilo's Mobile WiMAX™ AAA Connectivity Service Network (CSN) platform to enable services over CSM's Indonesian WiMAX network, the first such network to be built in that nation. The WiMAX network, which will blanket Indonesia with broadband Internet access, will utilize Aptilo's access and policy control service management platform.

The WiMAX deployments will roll out beginning with Indonesia's capital city Jakarta, along with Bogor, Depok, Tanggerang, Bandung and Surabaya. CSM anticipates one million subscribers by the year 2012.

"Aptilo's experience in large-scale WiMAX deployments, along with their integrated solution, made Aptilo the ideal choice for CSM," said Agus Buntaran, general manager, business and network development, CSM. "This project will grow to encompass all of Indonesia, providing the entire region with WiMAX access. Aptilo's scalability and their ability to ramp up quickly as needed was also very important to CSM in choosing a service management and access control solution."

Indonesia's underdeveloped IT infrastructure has had a significant negative impact on broadband penetration. In December 2007, there were only 194,400(1) broadband Internet connections for a total population of 234 million(2).

"Providing a wireless framework such as WiMAX will make the Internet more accessible to more people," continued Buntaran. CSM's WiMAX service will offer users a tiered pricing structure based on data use or minutes. Aptilo's policy management and QoS functionality will offer all users a high-speed data transfer rate of 384/128Kbps, suitable for VoIP use.

The standards-compliant Aptilo WiMAX CSN System™ is the first integrated wireless broadband data and voice services solution for standards-compliant Mobile WiMAX AAA and Service Control. The unique multi-access support allows for management of services provided over WiMAX and Wi-Fi networks from within the same platform.

The Aptilo platform also offers service providers a flexible, cost effective approach to deliver and meet their time to market and time to revenue objectives for WiMAX network installations that need support for rapid expansion.

"This is a proof that integrated solutions are attractive for service providers. Significant time and money can be saved in procurement, installation and maintenance when choosing an integrated solution, as the number of vendors with different subsystems will be reduced," said Jan Sjönell, managing director Asia/Middle East, Aptilo Networks. "Our customers rely on our proven track record for successful deployments, and our ability to support their growth with stable platforms that can grow quickly as needed. We are proud to be working with CSM on this important deployment."

Proven AAA Solution

Based on the field-proven, feature-rich Aptilo Service Management Platform™, Aptilo's WiMAX CSN System delivers a highly flexible and versatile authentication, authorization, accounting (AAA) and policy management solution for mobile WiMAX network services, with support for pre- and post-paid data and Voice over IP (VoIP) services. The integrated data and voice services solution provides authentication, authorization and accounting through multiple authentication types and enforces Quality of Service (QoS) and service flow profile parameters for users, devices and services. For CSM, Aptilo's QoS capabilities mean CSM can offer customers a tiered service and pricing structure.

Intelligent AAA Proxy functionality in the Aptilo WiMAX CSN System allows service providers to manage interactions with multiple external AAA servers and roaming partners while a large multitude of service offerings and combinations of time-, volume- and price-based subscriber accounts cover required business models.

The Aptilo WiMAX CSN System is fully interoperable with WiMAX-compliant clients and Access Service Network (ASN) nodes such as WiMAX 802.16-2005 based Base Stations and ASN Gateways through standards interfaces defined by The WiMAX Forum®. It is an open platform that has demonstrated proven interoperability with several ASN and HA (Home Agent) products from leading WiMAX suppliers.
